I am an Assistant Professor of Banking and Finance at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and Honorary Lecturer in Green Finance at the School of Biological Sciences, Queen's University Belfast. My research sits at the intersection of finance, environmental law and sustainability, with particular interests in climate finance, biodiversity finance, environmental and climate law, financial stability and sustainable investment.

I hold a PhD in Finance from Maynooth University (2014) and an MSc in Environmental and Climate Law (2025) from University College Dublin. My interdisciplinary research combines financial economics with environmental law to examine how financial markets, legal frameworks and public policy can support the transition to a more sustainable and resilient economy.

Alongside my academic research, I am passionate about contributing to policy, and I am currently a Funded Investigator in the Climate+ Co-Centre for Climate, Biodiversity and Water and lead a team providing technical evidence for the socio-economic and finance section of Ireland's National Restoration Plan under the EU Nature Restoration Regulation. My previous professional experience includes roles as an Economist at the Central Bank of Ireland and Risk Analyst in the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland at the National Treasury Management Agency of Ireland, where I worked on risk identification and mitigation, financial stability, macroprudential policy and sovereign risk.

My research has been published in journals including the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Financial Stability, Energy Economics, the International Review of Financial Analysis, the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, the European Journal of Finance and Finance Research Letters. I am currently Guest Editor for special issues in the Journal of International Money and Finance, Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics & Econometrics and have served as Guest Editor for the International Journal of Finance & Economics.

My current research focuses on climate finance, biodiversity finance, nature-related financial risk, green bond markets, financial stability, and the role of environmental law in supporting sustainable transitions. I regularly collaborate with academics, policymakers and international organisations to translate research into practical policy solutions.
